Shipment History

Charitable Shipments & In Kind Valuations' Progression

Advocates for World Health has shipped nearly 150 40ft. containers of medical equipment and supplies to Food for the Poor since 2013. The vast majority of AWH’s in kind donations are unrestricted assets (in original packaging, unexpired by at least 1 year) received from hospitals and/or surgery centers and then distributed to clinics and hospitals throughout Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. Circa 2017/2018, AWH made a series of investments in an enterprise resource planning system, a new sorting/triaging process, a refined quality control protocol, and expansion in employee training. As a result, AWH is now able to track every in kind donation by the unit – from the point of origin, to the value ascribed to the item during receiving, to Food for the Poor, and to the end recipients. This has dramatically improved our inventory throughput, accounting system with item valuations, and more. In the first quarter of 2021, we’ve donated more items to Food for the Poor than any other quarter in company history with nearly $4M worth of items. We’ve accomplished this all while working out of only 8,000 sq ft. of warehousing.

In 2019, we recorded a significant asset change in inventory values as a result of not properly recording inventory grants through our inventorying and accounting system in 2013, 2014, and 2015 (it was a defunct system we used while our cash was very tight). Please see below for a list of of those shipments and their corresponding values. This mistake was realized after we were able to amend our 990s for those years.

Please see the following links for a breakdown of the shipments made to Food for the Poor in past years: 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 , 2017, 2018, 2019 (coming soon), 2020 (coming soon).
