Ryan Kania – CEO – Ryan leads the team by coordinating partnerships with international relief agencies and setting the strategies for future growth. Ryan graduated from the University of South Florida as Fall 2012’s Outstanding Graduate with Magna Cum Laude in Finance and Economics.
Josh Miller – COO – Josh is responsible for the logistical nightmare of receiving 10, 20, and even 30 pallets of product donations that come in at any given time. He ensures that all of our products are correctly sorted and meets tight deadlines to load and ship pallets or containers of product. He is a graduate of University of Central Florida.
Shahana Farishta – Head of Student Affairs – Shahana Farishta is a Senior at the University of Florida, pursuing a dual degree in Anthropology and Religion, and minoring in International Humanitarian Assistance and Sustainibility. Born and Raised in India, she has experienced health and lifestyle disparities, and developed an extraordinary zeal to aid global health evolution. Being a proponent for interdisciplinary wisdom, Shahana has creatively worked on the expansion of the student chapters in the nation. Under her training and evaluation, several universities have successfully established AWH chapters after being trained for fundraising, networking, marketing, and leadership. Her vision is to have a strong chapter in every state in the nation before she graduates as a Gator. With the open ended program she has designed, she has been attracting a group of Dynamic leaders for every chapter.
Thaen Kannan – Events and Outreach Coordinator – A junior majoring in International Relations at Mount Holyoke College, Thaen has worked extensively with recruiting, fundraising, and event planning through her work with the Five College Model United Nations and various NGOs in India. She has lived in Croatia, Bosnia, Macedonia, Cyprus, and India, giving rise to a thirst for adventure and social work. She is particularly interested in trauma and development in South Asia, the Middle East and Africa, making AWH the perfect place to engage with these issues. Having lived and traveled to countries where access to health care is a major issue, she joined AWH with the hope that she could encourage students to start Chapters in their locale, making a difference locally and internationally.

Dr. Sudeep Vyapari, PhD – Sudeep earned his PhD in Environmental Horticulture.
Sudeep was the Program Director of the Institute of Florida Studies (IFS). Through his work at IFS,
Sudeep’s passion for the environment and sustainable living has flourished through
numerous grant funded initiatives and community partnerships in the greater Tampa Bay Region.
Sudeep is currently the Associate Executive Director at the National Council for Science and the
Mr. Don Kaltenbach, JD – Don was the previous Executive Director of Dattoli Cancer Center. He
also practiced as an attorney for over 30 years. He has also played critical board
and management roles with Synovus Bank.
Dr. Jeff Lowenkron, MD – Jeff is a practicing internist and is the CEO of the USF
Physicians’ Group. As the CEO, Dr. Lowenkron fine tunes service delivery,
assessing services, continuing development and evaluation of new business, and
measuring quality outcomes.
Mr. Gordon Ryerson – Gordon is a managing director at Novumed. His specialties include Strategic
advisory services for pharmaceutical and biotech companies focused on product/portfolio in-
and out-licensing, partnering, sales and divestitures.
Mr. Rick Bennett – Rick is currently a community health educator at Florida blue. He was a consultant
for over 10 years Consulting with nonprofits, churches/ ministries and small businesses on training,
marketing, social media, program management, ad campaigns and creative services (including written
and oral communication) as they aim for market share increase.
